Pelmets and Valances

These hang over the top of a window and on a practical note serve to hide the curtain track but can make a considerable contribution decoratively. Pelmets are flat surfaces and are very effective where a fabric design might be lost in the folds of a gathered valence and the shapes that can be created range from the discreet to the flamboyant. Valences are soft with fabric being draped, gathered or folded.
